Box Elder, Asian lady beetles, and other assorted nuisance insects

Box elder bugs are seasonal nuisance insects that gather on sunny sides of homes, especially in late summer and fall. They are attracted to warmth and often collect on siding, windows, and nearby trees. We treat both the structure and surrounding areas (including lawn and infested trees) to reduce the number of bugs reaching your home. While treatment helps significantly, some activity may still occur due to ongoing movement from surrounding areas.
Asian lady beetles are similar to ladybugs but tend to gather in large numbers as they look for places to overwinter inside homes. They are commonly found around windows, doors, and upper walls on sunny sides of the house.
Treatment focuses on exterior entry points to reduce the number getting inside. You may still see some activity initially, but this should decrease over time as the treatment takes effect.
For both of these, and also flies, we find that the most important treatment is in fall, when we dust into all the places they hide out for overwintering. That makes the most difference in following years – although in well-established infestations, it sometimes takes more than a year to eradicate them fully.
This year, we are offering a package deal which includes multiple sprays/dusting treatments throughout the season, plus a thorough dusting in the fall.
Silverfish are small, wingless insects that prefer dark, damp areas such as basements, bathrooms, and around stored paper or cardboard. They feed on starches found in paper, glue, fabrics, and some food products.
Treatment focuses on reducing moisture and treating affected areas to control activity. You may still see some silverfish initially, but numbers should decrease as conditions improve and the treatment takes effect.
