Oopsie!

So I was showing someone our site today and noticed that I hadn’t updated since last October. My bad!! Let’s not mention that to Ross, k?

Funny thing is though, that even though I haven’t been doing much (okay, anything at all) he’s still had probably the busiest winter yet. Bedbugs, roaches and mice, oh my. And we’re seeing more rat calls as well for some reason. Rats are a PITA – way too smart… but I digress.

snowshoe pigPoor guy hasn’t even had much time for working on stained glass so far … did do a snowshoe pig though! (Doesn’t everyone need a snowshoe pig? No? Just Sue then!)  And he just finished a snowshoe old, except it’s  not yet in its snowshoe.

ANYWAY, in spite of the fact that Ross is now officially entitled to all the senior discounts, he’s still going, and we are still here to solve all your pest control problems in Tiny, Tay, Simcoe, Muskoka and beyond.

It’s a little early to be booking yet, but won’t be long before we’re gearing up for spring so here I am babbling about not much of anything so that you’ll know we are in fact still here, and so that all the search engine bots will also know it. Time for me to start posting regularly again, whether I actually have anything interesting to write about or not!

Thanks for stopping by, and if you are looking for help with a pest of some sort, do feel free to drop us an email or give us a call at 705-534-7863.  We look forward to hearing from you. Unless it’s a rat problem. We’ll still solve it for you, but we don’t actually look forward to those ones much!

Your convenience or ours?

These days when I’m responding to quote requests, I’m more often giving two prices – one if the job is at “your convenience” or a discounted price for “at ours”.

Guess it wouldn’t hurt to explain that!

Your convenience means you want to be there, with a set appointment date and time and all that fun stuff. For some jobs, such as carpenter ants, bedbugs or mice, obviously since we need entry, most times those are going to have to be appointments.

But for exterior only jobs like spider sprays, “at ours” makes scheduling ever so much easier. I put them on his calendar off to one side and pull them over around other appointments to where they best make sense. And/or, when we get a few in a particular area, I plug them into empty spaces as a group. Flexibility helps us for scheduling, and it also means that when an urgent call (that almost always means bedbugs) comes up, we can often get to it faster.

I do still let you know, usually a day ahead, when he is planning to come so that you can make sure windows are closed, though.

Either way, Cottage Country Pest Control is happy to help you with all of your pest control needs. Just give us a call at 705-534-7863, email us at ccpestcontrol@gmail.com, or fill out the quote form and I will be happy to add you to Ross’ calendar.

Wanderings

Ross new volvoIsn’t it pretty? Ross picked up his new-to-him vehicle yesterday… spent some time this morning (between phone calls and my pestering him about invoices & so on) figuring out how he wanted to set everything up in it…. but eventually had to quit playing and get off to work.  He’s doing several spider sprays here in Victoria Harbour today, then tomorrow he’s off to Muskoka for a few more. Those ones are for people who have had carpenter ants in the past …. the carpenter ant problems are solved, but following up with spider sprays in subsequent years just makes sense.

Even though we call it a spider spray, the spray that we use is effective on most insects – and it lasts for several weeks – so it helps to keep carpenter ants – and ladybugs – and mosquitos – and …well, you get the idea – on the outside of your home or cottage, where they belong.

And that, of course, is the main thing… we wouldn’t want to kill off all the insects, even if we could…. they are an important part of the food chain! But keeping them outside of your home, cottage or business just makes sense.
